Before the crew arrives
Clear furniture and window treatments from the openings, take down anything hanging on nearby walls, and make sure there is parking and clear access. Agree in advance where materials will be stored and where the old units will go.
During the work
Most crews work opening by opening so the house is never fully open at once. Expect floor protection, dust sheets and some noise. Each new unit should be checked for level and plumb, insulated around the perimeter, and sealed inside and out before the trim goes back on.
Signing off
Walk every opening with the lead installer before the crew leaves. Open and close each sash, check locks and screens, and look at the sealant lines inside and out. Note anything outstanding in writing, along with a date for it to be resolved, and keep your warranty paperwork somewhere safe.
